Wheels of Time in Kent is run by an independent charity, registration number 1206418, delivered by a team of volunteers.
This purpose of the charity is to deliver the Wheels of Time scheme to encourage children between the ages of 5 and 11 to visit museums and heritage venues in Kent.
Children participating in Wheels of Time have fun exploring Kent’s museums & heritage venues following Roamin’ Rex’s map. They collect a badge individual to each site. They can claim Roamin’ Rex’s Award Badge badges for visiting 10, 20, 30, 40 or all 57 sites.
There is no charge to children participating in Wheels of Time, but the normal entry fees at the sites are payable. Some sites are free entry but ask that visitors make a donation. See site information by selecting the site from the menu above.
Adults accompanying children given a Wheels of Time Badge will need to register on our website to record your visit, through setting up an account on the Collectors Portal. This helps us to gauge the success of the scheme and decide how to develop it for future years. Please refer to our Privacy page for information regarding data collection and use.

Lady Colgrain was most impressed with the Wheels of Time scheme when she attended the 2023 Wheels of Time launch event and said “I so enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing about the many different museums and heritage sites that are part of the Wheels of Time project. The project is such a fun initiative while at the same time being a wonderful way of teaching children about our county’s history and heritage”.
Roamin’ Rex sets his sights beyond Kent
The Wheels of Time scheme originated in Kent in 2015 to promote education in history and heritage among young children. In 2024, a new national Wheels of Time Community Interest Company (CIC) was established to enable the Scheme to be rolled out to other areas for more young people to enjoy.
You can find out what other museums and heritage venues outside of Kent are part of the Wheels of Time scheme by visiting the main www.WheelsOfTime.UK website.
