Sandwich Medieval Centre

The Sandwich Medieval Centre is a maritime and land-based craft living museum based at the wooden boatyard building on the slipway by the Quay in the town. With a specific focus on engaging with young people, it is a base for educating and mentoring in medieval crafts and skills to ensure that the rich history of Sandwich in this period is not lost to future generations. The object of the charitable trust that runs the centre is to educate through re-enactments, crafts and skills. It is undertaking the building a full scale replica of a medieval ship, has a working forge where people can watch a blacksmith at work, plus a kitchen for demonstrations of cooking from the period. It runs a number of workshops and events throughout the year.
